The Entourage

Veronica Searles (Maid of Honor)

Its rare that you meet someone whose company you enjoy so instantly and thoroughly, but Veronica has absolutely been that for me.  She and I moved from opposite sides of the country to start medical school and once she got over the shocking realization that cool people can grow up in places other than California, we became immediate friends.  From marathon board study sessions to marathon sitting-on-her-couch-with-a-bottle-of-prosecco sessions, Veronica has become my constant confidant, motivator, and partner in crime. At this point I feel like I should giver her the official tittle of Lifecoach but I don't have enough to pay her.  She is a ball of fun and like me, uses coffee breaks to procrastinate, so I seek out her company A LOT.  I am honored that she has agreed to be my maid of honor  and I look forward to years of fun scientific and non-scientific endeavors in Denver with her.

Brooke Napier

Brooke and I first met at Agnes Scott, when she invited me to participate in the "Women in Science" apartment group, which was a thinly-veiled ploy to get to live in juniors-and-seniors-only apartment complex as sophomores.  I recognized the genius in this idea, and hitched my caboose to her bottomless idea engine for the first of many adventures in Atlanta.  I lived with Brooke for 6 years in 7 different houses (3 were Agnes Scott apartments, only one was the aforementioned con-job), and when I left to move to Denver, I was faced with the daunting task of decorating for myself and finding new friends.  From her enviable style to her impressive scientific endeavors, Brooke has been a constant inspiration in my life.  I also give her the sole credit of transforming bad haircut, two-t-shirts-at-the-same-time caterpillar college Tripp into the beautiful butterfly that he is today.   And as an added bonus, her parents moved back to her childhood home near Denver so when she comes to visit them, I get to pretend she is visiting us and WE get to reenact 2007 where we drink flavored vodka and talk about people from college.

Heather Laughridge

When I first met Heather, she was wearing all black and had waist-long hair and a don't-mess-with-me-stare that made me decide to not mess with her.  It was all a front though, because I soon found out that she is one of the sweetest, most sincere people I know.  While I was pretending to study in high school, she was actually studying, but somehow found time to hang out with me, and make me want to keep her in my life forever.  No matter what I am facing, I know I can call Heather and she will have salient, calm and humorous advice, and know exactly what to say to make me feel better. I have a feeling she does this for everyone in her life, but I hope she never tells me because I like to think I'm special.   Also Heather is an actual doctor, so as a med student I get to say that I'm friends with an actual doctor, which is AMAZING.

Anne Marion

I don't even want to think about how old Anne was the first time I met her but I'm pretty sure she still shopped at Limited Too.  I am also pretty sure that at that time I was Tripp's weird new girlfriend from his weird science school and that she was way too cool for me.  Over many Thanksgivings, Christmas's, summers and vacations I have watched Anne grow into the beautiful and charming woman that she is today.   She is a fantastic storyteller, and I always appreciate her stories about the embarrassing antics of little Tripp.   I look forward to many more holidays with the Marions, I know we will have a lot of fun together!

Patrick Hanna (best man)

Patrick and I met in Ms. Burnette’s 5th grade class, where I think our antics shortened her life by approximately 3 years.  As the guitarists of The Silver Screen (our super-sweet band in college) we were once on our way to stardom but we didn’t make it because Fall Out Boy stole our unique sound. Despite this, and despite only briefly living in the same city as each other since high school, we've remained BFFs and I can't imagine my life without his commentary and sense of humor.  Patrick is always the life of the party, and I’m sure he will make in impression on everyone during the reception. Patrick’s favorite book is “50 Shades of Grey.”

Gregg Rothmeier

When we first met, Gregg was Brooke’s quirky boyfriend with a mohawk and a nervous dog named Emerson. I was worried, because Gregg was cooler than me and I wasn’t sure how to deal with it. We quickly realized how similar our interests are (the three B’s: Beer, Bikes, Board Games) and became buddies. Also, Gregg was nice enough to pretend to be as slow as me so that we could train together for bike races. Although he has lost the mohawk, he works for a software consulting company with hallway scooters and free t-shirts, which means he is still cooler than me. Gregg’s favorite book is “It’s not about the Bike” by Lance Armstrong.

Douglas Marion

Two years ago, when everyone was wondering when Hannah and I would actually get engaged/married, Douglas gave me the best gift - taking the pressure off us by asking Anne to marry him!  Way before this though, I knew I was going to get along with Douglas; he's an all around great guy and as a fellow engineer, he has the same complaints about badly-designed decorative wedding china that I do.  I am also a bit jealous of him, because despite living in South Carolina his whole life he is a better skier than I am. Douglas’ favorite book is “Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway.

Randall Scarborough

Randall is Hannah’s perfect brother. He has a perfect job and a perfect life in the tropical paradise of Hawaii. Despite the fact that he makes me look like Quasimoto if I stand next to him in pictures, Randall and I have had a ton of fun over the years I’ve known him.  I feel like he understands why Hannah is such a weirdo even better than I do.  He also has a great sense of adventure! Our first day in Hawaii with him, he took us on an epic hike; starting with a trek up a river bed, then a 10 foot rope climb up a rock wall, followed by a jaunt through a rain forest and culminating in a swim to a secluded waterfall.  He also made his mom do the same trek, but thats a different story.  He's a great guy and I hope he keeps living his Hawaiian dream, and not just because it will one day turn into our Hawaiian vacation spot.  Randall's favorite book is "Who cares about the Monk Seal, we need another beachfront hotel" by Donald Trump.
